AWESOME TEXTURE

About

AwesomeTexture makes seamless textures and estimated normal maps inside your browser.

Awesome Texture is the name behind these small image tools. It is for people working with photos of brick, fabric, stone or wood who want a tile they can test in a game, a 3D scene or a design.

What the tools do

Choose one image, adjust the edge blend and lighting balance, then inspect how the result repeats. The texture tool has single-tile, 2×2 and 3×3 views. Download saves one PNG at the decoded image dimensions; the preview grid is not added to the file.

The seamless tool page accepts JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF as a still image, and supported RGB TIFF first pages. It accepts up to 16,777,216 pixels, with neither side longer than 16,384 pixels. Larger files are rejected rather than resized. Available memory can impose a lower limit.

The Normal Map Generator accepts JPG, PNG and WebP. It estimates height from brightness, smooths that height, and calculates tangent-space normals. Strength and smoothing are adjustable; OpenGL and DirectX exports differ in the green channel. It keeps the decoded dimensions and alpha, and exports one 8-bit PNG.

What they cannot infer

The tool blends opposite edge strips and applies a cyclic offset. That seamless-texture process does not reconstruct missing bricks or correct perspective. Normal-map generation is a separate tool and estimates relief from brightness; it does not recover physical geometry or separate shadows from surface color. Strong lines and uneven lighting can leave doubled details. Check the repeat before using the PNG.

What stays on your device

There is no account, batch queue or cloud image library. Neither tool uploads or stores your source image or generated result on a server. The privacy policy explains browser memory, hosting and planned advertising.
